Raymond W. "Ray" Smock (born February 8, 1941) is an American historian who has been serving as director of the Robert C. Byrd Center for Legislative Studies at Shepherd University.[1] He is a former Historian of the United States House of Representatives and also serves as president of the Association of Centers for the Study of Congress, and, starting in 2006, as a board member of the West Virginia Humanities Council and the National Historical Publications and Records Commission.[2]
